Our Story
Veranda's story begins with founders Joe and Leona Hryszko. In 1972, they travelled to Canada from Poland to embark on a life-changing journey. Determined to build a life for his family, Joe chose to enter Calgary’s construction world in 1974.
Land developers quickly recognized Joe's dedication and approached him on a job site, eager to involve him in upcoming subdivisions in Northwest Calgary. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for Veranda: the company started building in prestigious neighbourhoods like Edgemont, Ranchlands, Hawkwood, and Arbour Lake.
The values and work ethic established by the Hryszko’s in Veranda’s early years set the stage for its second generation. Joe’s son Rob embraced the challenge and opportunity of the business, and customers continually came through referrals and repeat business, a testament to the quality and service Veranda consistently delivered. Melissa, Rob’s wife, took the helm of design, creating timeless, liveable and highly sought-after homes. Their portfolio of over 50 builds in Bearspaw, Springbank and inner city Calgary is a stunning reflection of Veranda’s decades of expertise and multi-faceted approach.
As they embark on the expansion in South Calgary’s community of Legacy, the vision is clear: to stay true to their roots and deliver premium, value-driven housing built on a foundation of quality craftsmanship and generational integrity.
